The anti-budget concept describes an alternative concept for budgeting. It is not new, is spread on the internet and has already been practiced in various forms by my grandmother and great-aunt.
My grandmother went to the bank once a month, withdrew an amount of money and divided the money into four equal stacks at home. Every week she took a stack and had her budget available.
My great uncle got his pay packet on Fridays. He came home with it and gave my great aunt the same amount each time. So they both had their budget for the week.
As a child I got pocket money every week. Every week I knew exactly how much money I could spend and every day I knew how much money I still had available.
These approaches to budgeting combine the following characteristics:
- The time frame in which the budget is available is short and therefore easy to manage.
- Basically the money was spent consciously. One thought carefully about what one spent one’s money on.
- Money was always spent consciously with the available money (budget).
- It was incredibly easy to understand and use.
The Antibudget app transfers these characteristics into a modern implementation as an app and thus gives everyone the possibility to keep their private finances under control with a feeling of freedom. At the same time, it ensures that the set savings goals are achieved and thus assets are constantly increased.
After more than a year of trial operation, the following additional positive effects are achieved through the conscious handling of money:
- Unnecessary contracts were terminated
- New contracts were only concluded after very critical examination or were not concluded at all.
- Fixed costs have fallen as a result.
- As a result, savings targets were exceeded
- Increased income did not lead to a higher daily budget, but to greater savings.
- Daily expenditure was constantly optimized. Carefulness in the selection of products and providers was the result.
- The good feeling to have the private finances under control, no matter what you had bought last.
